When Taylor and David, owners of Sundrop Books in Durant Oklahoma, reached out wanting a brand session and video of their bookstore…I may of may not have done an actual happy dance. If you have followed me for any length of time at all, you know I am absolutely book obsessed! So I mean…a bookstore?! YES PLEASE!

Our main goal for the photo portion of Sundrop Books brand session, was to photograph the space itself, details and books, products they sell, customers shopping, etc.

The main goal for video was to tell their story in a way that could be versatile. They were applying for a grant and needed to show specific portions of their business on video, but also wanted to use the video for marketing purposes outside of the grant. Y’all KNOW we are all about versatility and evergreen content so this was a fun challenge!

Sundrop books has several special and unique features that we really wanted to highlight.

The first being that David (co-owner of Sundrop books and Taylor’s husband) is Choctaw. He embraces his culture in a beautiful way, and both Taylor and David really wanted to bring that into the bookstore. They have an entire indigenous books section right up front in their store. They have both kids books and adult books and going a step further in that- they stock LOCAL indigenous authors work as well! I love this so much and think it’s such a neat thing to talk about!

One of the other things we wanted to highlight was the sustainability aspect of Sundrop Books. They have a trade in program where people can bring used books and get in store credit to put towards more books! They also have reclaimed wood shelves that they built and stained themselves, and most (if not all) of their furniture is second hand. We LOVE a good sustainability moment- especially from a business!

We had the most fun with them (and their pups!) during their brand session and are so thankful they chose us!
